The Azim Premji Foundation has opened two School in Uttarakhand in order to show that schools can provide qulity education in rural areas. These schools are an attempt to show the path to the government schools that are said to be lacking quality and infrastructure, due to which people are forced to send their children to private schools.
The Azim Premji foundation is not a Profit-Making organization. Its goal is to create and sustain initiatives to contribute to a just and equitable society.
The foundation was set up in 2001 to make a significant long-term contribution to national development. The foundation’s programmes have reached out to students in over 20,000 schools in the country.
State program coordinator of the foundation, Pallav Kumar says two schools of the foundation have been opened in April this year at Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar and in Uttarkashi. These schools would function in the first phase till Class 5. These schools would be affiliated to the Uttarkahand Board. Right now 100 enrolments each have been achieved in both the schools.
